Living in Dubai, San Francisco, Kansas City and Atlanta – this American had her fair share of big city living. Ian, who hails from England has also experienced plenty of metropolitan living including Paris, Atlanta, London, Prague and Dubai where we met.  Our shared love of traveling made the move to France an easy choice and so the hunt for our new home began.

When we stepped off the plane in Pau, we knew we landed somewhere unique and majestic. The mountains were covered in snow, the air smelled so clean and fresh. This was a different experience for us after living in the middle east for 7 years and we were yearning to start a new adventure here in France.

We visited many properties, but none of them had the right layout, or were not in the right location.  We agreed that we wouldn’t buy a property that needed all new electrical, plumbing and heating.
So after visiting 3 different regions in France, we decided to make Chateau Forest our new home.
Of course, it needed all new electrical, plumbing, heating, windows, floors, major roof repairs, gutters, pool, fosse system………this list goes on.  And so our adventure began on March 13, 2020 – three days before lockdown due to the pandemic.

After more then four years of restoring and renovating, the majority of the chateau work is done (but are you ever really done?) and we are ready to share our home and this beautiful part of France with you.
